Sadly my review is 3 years after the last and only review and can accurately report that nothing has changed. The people who catered at my event said that the kitchen was inadequate for their purposes, the cooker only has 4 rings and one of the sinks was blocked. My group were there for a funeral, the majority of guests were 60-80+ years in age, they too were told to fold tables, stack chairs, take our rubbish which we had neatly bagged to the overflowing dustbins outside., This was all despite the fact that we had paid for waste disposal and cleaning within the Church's contract. We were told to mop the floors, and clean the toilets, even though we had paid for waste disposal and cleaning. We were not provided with any health and safety equipment to protect our hands or advised on how to lift safely, which a is in breach of the HSE Act. But as we are not employees of St Michael's, maybe that's how they get around ensuring that they meet their legal obligations. Shockingly poor service; the most ironic thing was that I had offered to pay the site manager the week before to do the cleaning on a private basis, she accepted then rang two days later to say that she could do it. On the day she stood outside the hall watching the elderly guests struggle to do the cleaning up. She was paid for the hour and did nothing. She held the keys and said that 'Security' is here, as if the young male was going to attack anyone who did not do her bidding. Using intimidating tactics and bullying is unacceptable, and I am appalled that the church employs her knowing that she behaves this way. Avoid, Avoid, Avoid!
I had the misfortune of working for an event here. It was honestly one of the dirtiest kitchens I've seen and the lady who ran it was so unbelievably rude to the clients who had hired it. I wouldn't recommend anyone rents it. She threatened them with their deposit if they didn't clean the toilets, which were disgusting from the start and half didn't have locks or paper. Then she tried to get the family who had hired the hall to clean them! Half the electrics didn't work either so the poor couple whose party it was struggled with their music and decor. The outside looked derelict and had literally years of dirty rubbish and fly tipping strewn around. It was disgusting! Truly an awful experience and the worst hall we have been to an event at.
